300 Yen Sayonara meeting

Friday, June 29, 2007

Very tasty soups on the menu.

Lots of Sayonaras (good byes) these days and in the evening I joined with Kelly and Kevin for the last meetup of the infamous non-violent “300 yen bar gang”. Everytime we met it was just the three of us. I guess the others were simply too busy. Well, Kevin had to return to the U.S. and I to Germany. We met at the Almond Confectionery Shop in Roppongi and went to eat something at one of Kelly’s favourite places and afterwards to the Cavern which is a bar advertising itself as having “200 kinds of world beer”. We chatted a lot and maybe Kevin is coming back to Japan in the future – I heard that they are still looking for English teachers ;)

300 – This is Sparrrrta!

Saturday, June 16, 2007

This is madness! No, this is the Movie Lovers Meetup Group! Arrrrrr (sorry, that was another movie). So we went to see 300 today, the movie about 300 Spartans fighting an army of one millions Persians. It was probably the best-looking slaughter I’ve ever seen on the big screen (again the Shinjuku Wald 9 Cinema). I thought that 300 would be a fitting movie for the “300 Yen Bar gang”, so I asked Kelly and Kevin and luckily both had time which pushed the number of people at this meetup to 7. It’s strange that Kelly didn’t attend this meetup group before because he knows a lot about movies. But then every non-German who knows more German films than “Das Boot” and “Lola rennt” (Run, Lola, Run) qualifies as an movie expert in my opinion ;)

Meet Godzilla

Sunday, May 27, 2007

When the German Fest was officially over, they made it clear that the people should leave as soon as possible. The organisers tied up the tents, collected everything still on the table and closed the shops. So, um, we left and Kelly suggested that we take a short walk to Godzilla, or, to be more precisely, a statue of Godzilla. After a while we found the statue and it was smaller than expected. We all tried our best to get the best angle for a scary shot. I guess we took more pictures there than at the beer fest but later I deleted most of them.
